In this guide, we'll explain how to enable field validation when using the Back Navigation button to return to previous pages. By default, the "Back" button action in the Navigation field does not trigger field validation. The "Back" action is mainly meant for reviewing previous pages. Validation only happens when moving forward (using "Next" or "Submit").
This setup is useful when:
- You need to ensure data quality before allowing users to navigate back
- Users can submit the form from multiple pages and need validation on all pages
- Back navigation should enforce the same validation rules as forward navigation
- You want to prevent users from skipping required fields when moving between pages
1. INITIAL SETUP:
- Drag and drop a “Navigation” field onto your form.

2. CONFIGURE THE “NAVIGATION” FIELD:
- Click the pencil icon of the “Navigation” field.
- Set up the "Navigation" field for the "Back" action like this:
- Set the "Button Action" to "Next"
- Enter the previous page number in the "Go To Page" option
- For Example, if you are on page 2, enter "1" in the "Go To Page" option.

Note: This configuration changes the Back button behaviour to validate fields. Users won't be able to skip validation when going backwards. If you want some Back buttons to allow skipping validation, use the standard "Back" action on those buttons instead.
3. TEST THE FUNCTIONALITY:
- When users click the Back Navigation button, they will be sent to the previous page, and the form will trigger validation for required fields and any other field validation rules, even when navigating backwards.
