Trigger Navigation Field Using Workflow To Open A New Form

This guide will explain how to open a new form by triggering the Navigation field using the Field Update Workflow field.

  1. Initial Setup:
  • Drag and drop a “Select”, a “Field Update Workflow”, and a “Navigation” field onto your form.
  • Rename the fields as needed.

  1. Configuring The “Select” Field:
  • Click the pencil icon of the “Select” field.
  • Add “Select Options”.

  1. Configuring The “Field Update Workflow” Field:
  • Click the pencil icon of the “Field Update Workflow” field.
  • Add “Rule Criteria”.
    • Select An Option || equals || Open a new form
  • Add “Field Updates Success” to trigger the “Navigation” field.
    • Submit Button || event || run

  1. Configuring The “Navigation” Field:
  • Click the pencil icon of the “Navigation” field.
  • Add “Button Action” as needed.

  • Optional: You can add a Button Confirm Message.

  • Click “Open New Form”.

  • Add the Form ID of the form you want to open using the workflow.

Note: You can find the Form ID by editing the form on the Dashboard and copying it from the URL.

  1. Disable Standard Navigation:
  • Edit the form on the Dashboard.
  • Click “Setup”.

  • Disable Standard Navigation.
  • Save the changes.

  1. Test The Form:
  • Try the form.

  • Select the option we added in the workflow rule criteria.

  • It will show the button confirm message (optional).
  • Click “Ok”.

  • It will open the new form.
