Capture User IP Address In Formyoula Forms

This guide explains how to automatically capture the IP address of the user filling out a form by using the “IP Address Recorder” and “Field Update Workflow” fields.

1. INITIAL SETUP:

  • Drag and drop the "IP Address Recorder", "Text", and "Field Update Workflow" fields into your form as shown below.
  • The "IP Address Recorder" field will capture the user's IP address, and the "Text" field will display it on the form.

  1. CONFIGURE THE “FIELD UPDATE WORKFLOW” FIELD:
  • Click the pencil icon of the “Field Update Workflow” field.
  • Use the following configuration:

      • Rule Criteria:

    1. Field: IP Address
    2. Operator: not equal to
    3. Value: (leave blank)

      Field Update Success:

    4. Field: Capture IP Address (Text field)
    5. Attribute: value
    6. Value: {{6e33-f7a5-51a7}} (field ID of the “IP Address Recorder” field)

  • Save the changes.

5. TEST YOUR FORM:

  • Try your form.
  • When the form loads, the “IP Address Recorder” will capture the user’s IP address.
  • The Workflow field will copy that IP value into the “Text” field automatically.
  • You can now view the IP address directly in the “Text” field.
